Our Purpose

Wrexham Sounds is a not-for-profit music school dedicated to making positive differences to lives and communities. We provide our service users with a safe, creative learning environment, regardless of their background, educational attainment, health, social circumstances or financial means.

Whether helping individuals through music tuition, supporting them through our Music for Wellbeing sessions, or bringing people together through workshops and community projects, we use music to develop skills, build confidence and strengthen communities.

Income generated through our services is reinvested into developing new services, supporting community projects and helping people who may otherwise be unable to access music-based learning.

Wrexham Sounds endeavours in all its activities to develop the skills, wellbeing and personal growth of all its learners.

It achieves this by:

• Providing high-quality accredited and non-accredited learning opportunities
• Treating every learner as an individual, helping them to follow their own path
• Supporting learners on new music and performance-based projects
• Addressing social, health and educational disadvantage through the provision of music-based learning opportunities

Our work is delivered by a dedicated team of tutors, administrators, directors and volunteers who share a passion for music and a commitment to helping people develop and achieve their potential.

Together, we bring a wide range of musical, educational and community development experience, enabling us to deliver high-quality services across a variety of settings. Our team includes a HCPC-registered Music Therapist and experienced music educators with extensive backgrounds in community outreach, performance, music tuition and supporting children and adults with Additional Learning Needs and disabilities.

Wrexham Sounds is run by three Directors.

Managing Director, Olivia Gallagher, BA Hons, PGCE, CMS is responsible for all aspects of operational performance. A qualified teacher and experienced business manager, she is skilled in community engagement and third sector fundraising and marketing.

Volunteer Director David Gray BA Hons, MBA is a creative arts entrepreneur. He founded Undegun in Wrexham - a working, exhibiting and performance space for artists. He also brings commercial expertise gained in property management.

Volunteer Director Chris Lloyd BA Hons, MA (Chair) is an experienced business leader who has founded and developed several professional businesses offering specialist advice and services to clients in UK and International markets.

Funding has been received from WCVA, Community Foundation Wales, Moondance Foundation, Cadwyn Clwyd, Co-op, AVOW, Arts Council of Wales, and Wrexham County Borough Council.

Corporate donors include Pan Stone Europe, Pivotal Sound & Lighting, Banana Ben’s, and Competence Assurance Solutions.

We are also grateful for the support of local Community Councils, including Acton, Rhosddu, Rossett, Llay, Gwersyllt, Caia Park, Offa, Cefn, Glyn Traian, and Minera.
